Oh no, say it ain't so!
Lupita Nyong'o's 2015 Oscar gown—You know, the custom Calvin Klein Collection dress made of over 6,000 pearls that she just wore on Sunday—has been stolen from her room at The London Hotel in West Hollywood.
E! News has confirmed that police received a call at 11:23 p.m. on Wednesday night claiming that the 12 Years a Slave actress' dress valued at $150,000 had been taken. We've been told detectives from the LAPD are currently investigating the theft by reviewing security surveillance video and interviewing staff and other witnesses in order to catch the burglar.
After the shocking news came out this morning, The London Hotel released this statement to E! News: "This is a terribly unfortunate situation, and we are working with law enforcement on their investigation."

The dress took months to create and was designed by Francisco Costa in collaboration with Nyong'o.
"[We created] a series of textures with intricate placements of a variety of different-sized pearls," Costa told Vogue. "We looked at a variety of different pearls—South Sea, iridescent, and natural—and decided that the natural pearls looked the most beautiful."
Let's hope Lupita and her dress are reunited soon.

Kenyans in the Diaspora should organise themselves, unite and speak with a common voice, Cord leader Raila Odinga has said.
Raila said they are key to the country's growth.
"You're economically, socially and industrially very significant to the future of the Republic of Kenya," he said.
He was speaking at the Association of Kenyans in Belgium and Luxembourg secretariat in Brussels on Monday evening.
The Cord leader added that the large number of Kenyans living abroad clearly indicates that the Diaspora vote counts.
He urged them to visit the country, participate in governance and use social media to help shape Kenya's destiny.
"It's not just your money we need, it's your contribution, your participation and your commitment to the cause. It doesn't cost," he noted.
Raila was flanked by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who reminded Kenyans of the available opportunities at the coast.
The association's president, Doreen Walsweer, highlighted the need to embrace the culture of 'best practice principle,' saying it will ensure that Kenya adopts common international values for addressing common challenges.
The meeting was convened to explore how EU officials can forge security and democracy in Kenya.
It was organised by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung foundation.
The German-based foundation advocates for development cooperation by fostering global peace, justice and freedom through engaging in civic education programs.

Chris Bosh’s career could be in peril in twist of fate for Heat

By Marc Berman

In 24 hours, it has gone from Dragic to tragic for the Heat.
One day after their coup of landing crafty point guard Goran Dragic, Pat Riley’s franchise was in mourning over the prospect of Chris Bosh’s season — and perhaps career — ending.
Less than a week ago, Bosh was gracing the Garden as an Eastern Conference All-Star and teammate of Carmelo Anthony’s.
But now Bosh is laid up in the hospital after sufferingwhat is suspected to be a pulmonary embolism — a condition in which an arterty in the lungs becomes clogged when a blood clot breaks off and travels to the lungs. It can be a life-threatening issue if not treated quickly by blood thinners.
According to multiple sources in the medical community, there is a debate on whether it is safe to play contact sports on blood thinners because of the fear of uncontrollable internal — and external — bleeding.
Dealing with the aftermath of blood clots is a tricky business and there’s another scenario in which Bosh could be on lifetime blood thinners if blood tests reveal he has an auto-immune disease related to his being prone to blood clots.
The gravity of the situation was evident when Knicks coach Derek Fisher began his pregame press conference before facing the Heat at the Garden by paying tribute to the power forward.
“First I want to send my thoughts and prayers to Chris Bosh and his family that he is OK and will be OK,” Fisher said. “It’s tough for anybody in our business to get that news.’’
The Heat would not yet confirm Bosh’s exact condition other than to say he’s undergoing tests in a hospital. A CAT scan, however, is a very quick, decisive method of finding blood in the lungs.

“I’ve been in contact with him,’’ Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “He’s in great care. Everything is premature. We’re still collecting as much information as we can. It’s too premature. As soon as we collect all data, we’ll come up with some announcement.’’
The only hope to play this season is if the pulmonary embolism is considered minor and Bosh would only need blood thinners for three months. However, it’s standard to prescribe blood thinners for one year after a pulmonary embolism.
Bosh awaits a battery of tests on his blood and heart, including a stress test, before anyone can safely say he can play in the NBA, according to medical experts.
“He’s in a good spirits,’’ Spoelstra said. “CB always is. Right now we’re just living in a day-to-day world, like we have all season. We’ve developed character from going through these adversities.’’

The Bosh bombshell took the luster from the Heat’s trade for Dragic at the deadline in a move some thought easily would get them into the playoffs and perhaps make them a threat with Bosh having a terrific season.
The Knicks were trying to get into the mix for Dragic, but didn’t have a draft pick they could trade sooner than their 2018 selection.
“He’s a dynamic explosive playmaker, his ability to get in the paint,’’ Spoelstra said of Dragic. “His ability to make other guys better. Another guy who can attack off the dribble. We’ve liked him for a long time. It’s a good fit for the organization. We’re excited about it.’’
Dragic is expected to re-sign with the Heat, who have his Bird rights and can offer him five years. The Knicks, on Dragic’s short list, could only offer four years.
Fisher said Miami helped itself and the Knicks remain on path to a future of cap space after trading Pablo Prigioni for the expiring contract of Russian guard Alexey Shved. Dragic was taking his physical and not yet available for Friday’s contest.
“I’m sure Miami is happy,’’ Fisher said. “We’re catching them without [Dragic], but we’ll obviously be seeing a lot of him for the next few years to come, assuming he’s back there next season.
“Many teams were deciding what their priorities were. Teams made some moves to make jumps up to the top of their conference. Other teams stayed put planning for the future. For us, we made the moves that were available to keep us in line what our goals are going forward. We know what kind of forward we’re potentially able to have this year and next year.’’

Kambi barred from linking Atwoli to Muchai murder

Labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi and three MPs have been restrained by the High Court from linking Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli to the killing of Kabete MP George Muchai, his two bodyguards and driver.
Justice Alfred Mbeya yesterday ruled that Kambi, MPs Moses Kuria (Gatundu South) Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town) and Francis Waititu (Juja) should not utter any defamatory words against Atwoli, pending the determination of the suit.
The judge issued the orders after Atwoli said the leaders defamed him and other Cotu officials during Muchai’s funeral last Friday.
The leaders linked Muchai’s death to disputes at Cotu.
In an urgent application, Atwoli yesterday said Kambi, Kuria, Ng’ang’a and Waititu made utterances that have put his life and those of his colleagues in danger.
“Their utterances at the funeral were malicious and have exposed my personal and professional standing and character to public ridicule and embarrassment,” Atwoli said.
Through lawyer Jessie Oduor, Atwoli said calls by the leaders to have Cotu investigated over Muchai’s murder were meant to portray Cotu leaders as the ones behind the gang that killed him.
Muchai, his driver and two bodyguards were shot dead on Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi, on February 7.
Two people have since been arrested although they are yet to be charged.
Muchai was Atwoli’s deputy in Cotu before he became MP.
The two had been at logerheads in the recent past.
They had filed numerous suits against each other over the union’s affairs.
At Muchai’s funeral, Kambi said he knows the powerful people behind Muchai’s killing.
Kambi threatened to resign if police do not arrest and prosecute those who plotted Muchai’s murder, saying he knows them very well.
Kuria, Ng’ang’a and Waititu said police should speed up investigations and probe the battles between Muchai and other Cotu officials.
Atwoli now wants the court to permanently stop anyone from connecting Cotu’s infighting with Muchai’s murder.
He says such connection will be understood that Cotu officials are conmen, fraudsters, crooks and people who have been misusing their positions and influence to defraud workers out of their money.
He has named Rajab Mwondi, Rebecca Nyathogora, Francis Wangara, Joseph Nyabiya and Washington Ododa, all senior Cotu officials, as his co-petitioners in the suit.
The case will be heard on March 2.

Nairobi MPs plan to lock Sonko out of 2017 governor elections - See more at: http://www.the-star.co.ke/news/nairobi-mps-plan-lock-sonko-out-2017-governor-elections

CHECKED: Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.
CHECKED: Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.
A group of Jubilee Alliance politicians have hatched a plot to stop Senator Mike Gideon Sonko from becoming the next Governor of Nairobi.
Though he has never publicly said so, Sonko is currently doing his undergraduate studies at Kenya Methodist University (KEMU), which is interpreted as a sign of preparing to take a shot at the position now occupied by the Governor, Dr Evans Kidero.
A number of TNA leaders in Nairobi unhappy with Sonko's style of leadership argue his image “is a disaster for business in Nairobi”.
The group says that while Sonko got “all the Kikuyu votes” in his successful bid for the senatorial seat, he did not deliver the Kamba vote to candidate Uhuru Kenyatta at the 2013 general election.
The group, which coalesces around Starehe MP Maina Kamanda, and involves all TNA elected MPs in Nairobi, is grooming Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, who they plan to sponsor to carry Jubilee's flag in the next general election.
However, Kamanda yesterday dismissed the claims, saying they were being peddled by individuals whose intention is to divide the ruling coalition's leadership in the capital.
“All elected Jubilee leaders in Nairobi are working as a team and any talk of grooming somebody for whatever seat is a diversionary tactic. It is being peddled by people out to divide us,” Kamanda said.
He said the matter of who will contest which seat has never been discussed because, in the view of the team, “this is the time for development and not politics”.
He said Sonko is very much part of the team and dismissed claims that the group was plotting to curtail the flamboyant legislator's political ambitions.
“You have seen [Ferdinard] Waititu playing a major role in our activities. We are grooming no one, that is why Waititu is with us. In any case, it is too early to determine such things.”
When the Star contacted Waweru, he was non-committal, saying, “Only God knows who will be the next governor of Nairobi”.
He went on: “For now I still have the mandate of the people of Dagoretti South. But we shall cross that bridge when we get there”.
He did not elaborate.
Sonko confirmed he is aware of the plot and declared that he is ready for the battle.
“I remain loyal to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his government. My focus for now is to help Jubilee deliver on its election pledges. Most of people attacking me will not make it because they have failed to deliver,” he said.
Sonko and the MPs hardly ever see eye-to-eye and their relationship has been characterised by suspicion and a push for control of TNA in Nairobi.
The dispute between the two sides has been explained as the reason behind TNA's abysmal performance in the Mathare byelection last year.
ODM's Stephen Kariuki easily trounced TNA's George Wanjohi after internal squabbles that saw the MPs reject Sonko as the leader of the party's campaign team.
